In perfumery, simplicity is a very thin edge. You could end up with a lackluster olfactory experience, or with a commanding and engaging one.

This particular curated attar uses just two materials: Saffron and Oud. The first is spicy, floral, and gourmand (especially if you’re culturally Eastern). The second comes in an array of profiles—floral, fruity, resinous, dark, leathery, animalic, even outright smoky.

If I were to describe it in color, I would choose gold. Something reminiscent of sun-dried apricots, delicately drenched in golden honey. And the Oud—oh my. Without much negotiation, it arrives with its strangely clean animalic profile. I know that sounds like saying a very white black, but it truly is: clean animalic.
