Silani Oud and Myanmar Oud.

Backstory:

This oud is passion in a bottle. It is the brainchild of a master distiller—a co-distillation of wild Silani and wild Myanmar ouds he envisioned and crafted on his own. This is an artisan exploring “what if,” unconstrained. I caught wind of it after the majority of the batch was acquired by a private collector. Thankfully, I was able to grab the last few tolas left.

When applied to the skin, it immediately unfolds with the earthy, green depth characteristic of Silani oud, seamlessly intertwined with the darker, woodier notes of Myanmar oud, with subtle hints of smoke and rich soil lingering in the background. The texture is remarkably smooth—like fine silk.

Its smooth profile and the artisan’s deliberate choice to blend ouds from these two distinct regions reflect the rich history of the Arakan Sultanate—a once-major trading hub renowned for its Myanmarese silk exports across the Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka at large. I couldn’t find a better name for it than Arakan Silk.

I’d be curious to hear about your experience. If you end up grabbing some of this, please come back and share a review of what you think.
