Amazing bakhoor! Loved it, the best I’ve tried. Burns evenly and slowly and a small amount scents the entire house. And of course it smells great.
Blue Tropics gives me dry, powdery flowers and yellow fruits which isn't too sweet. It performs quite well for the first 2 hours and settles down around the 4 hour mark. I think I go nose blind if I smell it up close. It works well in an cool temperatures (around 27C). The blend is smooth and the Hindi oud is not offensive.
This is closer to 9ml than 8ml which is a plus!
Review is based on a sample contained in a discovery set that I purchased.
Applied to the back of my wrist.
There is a blast of almost candy-like fruit when I first apply, not unlike opening a new package of Lifesavers Gummies. That quickly steps aside to reveal a lovely composition of bright florals, warm animatic depth, and an almost soda-like fizziness.
In spite of the vibrance, I find this opening to be very settling. I think that it is the balance of the florals and fruits with the musky animatic undertones. A flora and fauna pairing, if you will.
It is a very refined civet. There is certainly some funk about it, but time has worn away the sharp aspects. There is cheese, yes, but it is an aged cheese, nutty, dense, and still a bit creamy.
It becomes increasingly beautiful over time. After about an hour, it takes on a lovely aromatic quality. Deep breaths leave a slight tingling sensation in my nose, like you might expect with camphor or menthol. With that said, the civet is still present, grounding the effervescence.
Four hours in, and things are more subdued. The flowers and the civet have merged into a single entity. Sort of a vaguely fruity warm scent. Perhaps a deep dark vanilla with floral notes. Six hours and it’s down soft soothing musk.
I really like this. I think that it is my favorite of the new releases.
Most aptly named Elkhaldi I've yet to smell.
Opening: Immediately I'm hit with this yellow, honeyed sickly mango and dense sweet narcissus and a slight soured green apple. There is a furry sweet stink just barely noticeable. Imagine a field of yellow flours beneath scattered apple trees with bees buzzing among the flowers and a large flock of goats and other beasts jumping and tromping around playfully in the distance.
Dry Down: soft powdery florals, juicy fruity oud
Incredible daytime summer or spring scent.
One of the best things I have ever smelled.
Absolutely fabulous with no foul smell. I blended this with sandalwood ❤️
Blue Tropic opens up fruity, creamy and floral, with hints of coffee. I do not find it to be aquatic, well at least to my nose. Starts off sweet, but gets better and better as it dries down, as the ouds get more prominent.
Projection was good the first 2-3 hours. Long lasting definitely. It's been 12 hours and I can still smell it on skin despite rounds of hand washing and ablution. Sweeter than what I would usually wear but still a nice scent. I will wear outdoors on the weekends, perhaps on cooler days or nights. Well done Brother Maher, Allahumma barik.
At the start, I get light “gris cola vibes” combined with a tangy blackcurrant note, almost like a spritzer. Everything blends well with a shallow aquatic note, a light freshness surrounds the composition.
From the middle, the fir balsam base becomes quite precise, it seems as if the rest is literally gliding on top of it, playing slightly ethereal green notes in the background, making the whole thing a little more relaxed and transitioning almost seamlessly into floral lotus notes with a light powdery film. Oud adds more earthy notes towards the end, bringing the composition down to earth, so to speak. Slight “barny” animalic tips are recognizable, but are rather negligible in the overall composition.
All in all, I like the fragrance. The longevity is perfectly fine. Only the sillage/projection leaves something to be desired, at least for me. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes quite skin-deep.
I would actually classify it as a bit more feminine, but I would still wear it as a grown man :D
I give it 4/5 stars, in numbers from 1-10 I would give it a good 7.
Right at the initial spray you get this sour cherry smell that lingers for the first minutes. As the time goes on the cherry starts to get replaced by this funky ambergris and oud smell. I expected the cocoa to be more prominent but its like a sleeping bear, just waiting to be released.
Finally the beautiful sweet cocoa comes out and makes this fragrance a beautiful blend. You get this rich fizzy feeling to everything with the sweetness backing it up. The oud is perfect here I feel this is a safe blind buy and entrypoint to the house of elkhaldi.
Not what I expected, but when it comes to aged civet, now I know. I have a 8ml from another prominent house which used aged civet. With that one I was surprised also. Smooth, deep and rich with floral overtones. Simple no harsh animalics. The floral aspect in Maher's Civet Royal is the the heart and center. It's what you will notice first. I dare to say it's almost tuberose. It's a big bouquet with slight animalics around the center circle of the floral. The spice is underneath both. Soild projection with very good longevity. Very pleased with my purchase. Also top quality perfumes and attars along with paste come from his house. Maher, I think I can speak for everyone, we are all pleased you choose to follow your passion with perfumes.
Far more masculine and delicate than the explosive and intoxicating Nectar Poeticus, Blue Sri Lanka is deceivingly complex and extraordinarily elegant.
This attar opens with a strong refreshing roast coffee note, which i feel is so rarely done right in naturals, but it is unexpectedly transitioned into something more akin to a cold brew paired with the cool blue vespers of oceanic brine and aquatic lotus that creates a refined ozonic (and surprisingly professional) aroma. With a lack of spices, the coffee is not a warm note. Instead it soon melts into the rest of the composition leaving the wearer with a slightly bitter, much-more-so sweet, creamy, lightly salted crystalline BLUE note that only synaesthesia can hope to describe.
As the heart notes start to become the undercurrent of the aroma, the dry down leaves you with a transition from an icy blue to a slightly purple blue smell as the ouds at the core of the blue roast base take the center stage.
Lasts well throughout the day, but longer on skin. I find it more close to skin than projecting but others tell me it's stronger.
If it must be pigeon holed- This is a datenight scent for spring and fall
The only reason this rating is not 5 stars is purely because I have to compare it to other Elkhaldis and it's more delicate, but just as beautiful as many others
This fragrance is outstanding, I would rank this right below Nectar Thai. I'm personally a huge fan of fruits so this fits the category perfectly. At first it's more a calm and pleasing fruit scent with blue lotus and ouds.
As the time passes the fruits dry down to a more potent, mature scent while still keeping the blue lotus and oud notes present. In all, it is a fantastic rich fruit scent that blends wonderfully with eachother and the oud. This perfume deserves a solid 9.5/10. Keep it up
This is a perfume that opens to a bright juicy peach with hints of musk and oud. As it dries down the peach is still very prominent but dries to a dark, more rich feeling peach. The oud, musk, sandalwood, & narcissus remain not too subtle but as a good layer in the back.
With full honesty, this fragrance deserves an outstanding 9.6/10. It is also extremely easy to wear and can be worn it almost any occasion. Amazing
Another set of beautiful scents. Not sure which i love more the attars or these gems. Hats off to Maher for his amazing work ma sha Allah
Blue Tropics is easily one of the most wearable and crowd-pleasing natural perfumes I’ve experienced. It opens with a vibrant bouquet of tropical fruits and florals—lush, radiant, and undeniably high quality, on par with the finest natural fragrances. What sets it apart is how it embraces the animalic depth of oud without becoming overwhelming. Instead, it maintains an approachable elegance, reminiscent of high-end niche perfumery. A beautifully balanced and sophisticated scent.
Incredible compositions here. The civet animalics are definitely present and in your face but are surprisingly blended well and not aversive whatsoever.
Short yet genuine review regarding brother Mahir’s work ma sha Allah:
Very high-quality, fine materials used.
Finetuned for a well proportioned balance of notes.
Seamlessly and masterfully blended.
Resulting in you sniffing your arm on and off, again and again to capture the tantalizing scent aroma of these beautiful fragrances.
