What's Inside:

Wow is this a perfect blend. Amazing
I’m still new to perfumes, so I’m learning how to put words to what I smell. With Qinan Rose, I had to spray it on paper just to slow it down - almost like hitting pause on a bullet-camera shot - so I could notice the layers. The first impression is a bright, cheerful rose, with just a faint hint of geranium and a quiet spark of ginger. It feels very clear and open at the start, but right away I sensed something more going on underneath.
As it develops, the ouds begin to rise. The rare Hainan Qinan comes through as creamy, green, and lightly sweet. What surprised me is that it doesn’t drag the rose down into heaviness; instead, it seems to hold the rose up, wrapping it in something deeper and resinous. The other ouds… Papua, Trat, Yunnan, Prachin… add different textures, so the scent feels layered rather than simple. I do have approximately 40 woods in my collection so I have a lot of experience and can tell you that it's very hard to pin down a specific note out of the woods and I really love that it's a Shapeshifter..
Other reviewers describe it as rose flickering like light on water, or like incense during a Kodo ceremony. I can’t personally compare it to those exact experiences, but I get what they mean: the rose stays bright for a long time, while the ouds slowly shift the mood into something calmer and more reflective. The materials really do smell high quality… the White Rose Otto is crisp, the Taifi rich, and the ouds add depth without turning heavy.
For me, Qinan Rose isn’t just a “rose scent” or just an “oud scent.” It feels like both at once…. uplifting but also grounding. It lasts a long time and takes you on a bit of a journey. Even as a beginner, I can tell this is special: more than just a perfume, it feels like something you experience over time rather than just wear.
Best of all, it got a huge smile from my wife. I think I may get her a bottle as a gift if one is still available… both to show my love for her, as well as - to a degree - so I can protect my own stash. :). Thank you Maher!
As a bonus, the packaging is top notch... really "Apple" level unboxing. Gorgeous printing, very luxurious interior and a perfect snug fit. This box will not get thrown away!
What can i say that wasn’t already said?
If you’re a fan of Kodo sessions then this is for you.
Incense, rose and a beautiful base as always. To my nose the opening is almost like smelling incense while being surrounded by roses, the white rose otto is so beautiful and crisp, the superior quality of the otto used is very clear. As for the base it’s just magnificent the Taifi is there and the papaun oud also, i can pick them up individually and also as a single note at the same time! I guess thats the magic of the two souls melange that was used here.
Crimson Cambodi is magical for someone like me. The scent is super fruity at the beginning the red berries are very apparent, slowly as the scent transitions you’re met with an earthy patchouli that is to die for! The scent finally settles to a beautiful oudy base but the surprise is that those red fruity accords turn into beautiful florals that accompany the oud in the base in the most beautiful way possible!
Qinan Rose is an oud-rose. But saying that is like saying a great jazz performance is just the tune as written in a few lines in the book of standards. The Elkhaldi blend that Qinan Rose reminds me most of is Ghazali HIndi, but they are completely different. That's jazz for you.
To me, Ghazali Hindi is a single, luminous rose nestled in a cave of deep, rich Hindi oud. Light emanates from the rose, illuminating the oud. The oud in turn reflects different facets of the rose that we might not have appreciated otherwise.
There's no cave with Qinan Rose. This is a luminous rose that calls to mind the play of light on water. The Taifi rose is lifted, almost fizzy or bubbly. By that I don't mean frivolous at all. It dances, like light on water. As the perfume wears, that water becomes more and more the ouds, and more still. Whereas the blend started with luminous flickering, it relaxes into calm, meditative waves. The rose stays around, but as a compliment and support for the ouds. The ouds themselves are almost diaphanous. I'm no expert on Chinese oud, and haven't often enjoyed it. But there's no bitter medicinal here. The blend is cohesive and resinous without being heavy. That's a common theme of this blend, richness and complexity without heaviness.
The materials used here mean that the blend is expensive. But Maher has created something special that's unique in his work thus far.
I've been wearing Qinan Rose for the past 3 days and falling more in love with it every time. First of all, to say it's a rose-oud combo is not accurate, it's a rose perfume with oud playing a big supporting role to give it more depth.
it start off with a bit spicy effervescent rose. Then honeyed-like sweetness emerges and stays for a while. The oud starts showing slowly after, adding smokiness and depth to the composition. As the perfumes progresses the oud keeps showing more and more transitioning smoothly, but never taking center stage. In the final stage you're left with beautiful smoky honeyed rose. It lasts well over 12 hours with moderate projection.
Overall, its a well deserved 10 out of 10 perfume for me. Very high Quality material superbly blended. I'm glad I secured a 30 ml bottle for me to cherish.
Had like .5 ml of a sample sent to me of this. It changed my life actually. You are a master perfumer, and this style reminds me of somewhere nostalgic in sometime. I can’t put my nose. But the amber cacao and oud ordeal, is absolutely nuts.
Wish I could afford enough to enjoy with how things are at the moment, cheers to Elkhadi and a new customer down the line! Incredible! Pheww!!
Objectively this is a 5 star but for me personally its a 4 because i tend to like the heavy and punchy rose oud combos.
Vintage rose oud that will probably be not replicated, to those who have it congratulations.
The smell, think smooth burnt roses on fire in this case the vintage ouds as support role giving the accords. Wearable, above average longevity and projection and pleasant to those around you, then again i am in hot weather and id imagine it will be even stronger to those with normal weather conditions
