Ever since I was first introduced to Narcissus—Narjis—I’ve been captivated by its shifting aroma. Depending on type and extraction, it can be powdery, creamy, green, medicinal, sweet, or floral.
My journey with Narjis began with two vintage oils: one from the Sultanate of Oman, traced back through a trusted chain to a Palace staff member; the other from a 3rd-generation Indian distiller’s reserve. One leaned oudy, the other softly musky. Both were treasures that felt like dream material.
My first Narjis creation, Nectar Poeticus, allowed Narjis to hover gracefully in a supporting role beside Osmanthus and animalics. Later, a 30-year-old Narjis—again with Palace lineage—found its way to me. Heavenly musky, it demanded center stage.
To approach it with fresh eyes, I invited my olfactory companion Tauhid into the process. Together, we experimented, refined, and finally gave life to this blend: an unapologetic dose of vintage Narjis (from the
Secret Garden Set), paired with Kashmiri musk, spices, and citrus. Osmanthus and Jasmine macerating in Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Burmese ouds form the base, aged for months. A touch of
Sultani Shamama sealed the composition with vintage character.
The result? A musky, powdery, floral perfume where vintage Narjis shines as the star. The yield was nearly 250 ml, enough for about fifteen 15 ml bottles—with a little set aside for gifts.
Choice is yours!
On its own, Narjis Noor captures the essence of vintage Narjis in a bottle. But for those who wish to explore deeper, I’m offering it as part of an optional bundle with the Narjis from the the
Secret Garden Set. Because here’s the truth: as perfumers, when we push boundaries, we risk tipping the balance—sometimes overindulging, sometimes muting what should sing. This bundle gives room for that exploration without straying too far, keeping artistry intact while staying grounded.
