You won’t be hard-pressed to find an “SQ”-dubbed Oud-Rose blend—even if you’re several degrees removed from anyone who’s worked with or around the palace. But that’s where the easy part ends.
This particular bottle, acquired by a collector friend and myself, is truly rare. Here’s why: The Taifi rose to oud ratio is noticeably higher than in most renditions. And in it is a rare and very special Oud, it’s dark, resinous, earthy—more incense than animalic.
Based on what we know, the oils were likely distilled in the early ’80s, and the oud leans more toward Papua in profile. Needless to say, the bottle came into our possession sealed.
it transported me to moments in childhood salat—standing beside elders whose bisht scent lingered like something sacred. I didn’t know it was oud back then. Now I do. If you’re seeking a true Arabesque-style olfactory signature, this is it.
